About Team No Tights
Team No Tights (TNT) is a lighthearted jab at the tights wearing mountain bike community. We hooligans believe that for the greater good of all, we shall not be seen wearing tights.
The slug NoTights.com also works as an easy to remember website to get to my mountain bike pictures . Often during races the racers will ask who I’m shooting for, and I have no easy answer to get them to my mountain bike pictures. Hopefully I’ll work up a good logo and business cards.
I’m currently shooting with a Nikon D80 I got with my girlfriend for Christmas 2006. I’ve now shot 32,000 pictures with it! I keep it paired with a Nikkor 18-200VR lens which I have a love/hate relationship with. I love it because it’s versatile, I hate it because it breaks bi-anually. Nikon is good about fixing it quickly and under warranty though. I bought/borrowed a Nikkor 17-55 f/2.8 lens from my friend Nate. I think I’m buying it off of him, but I also might bight the bullet and go full frame and get a D700 which would require different lenses. I also keep a 10.5mm fisheye with me, but I rarely use it at mountain bike races. For lighting I use a SB-800 flash, though I should have bought a SB-600 since my camera does all the mastering controls that the 800 gives you. Sometimes I use the built in flash to master the SB-800 flash remotely for better/different lighting techniques. At the 09 Wawayanda race this worked out really well. I also borrowed a 70-200f/2.8 lens for that race.
Our group is new and has 3 founding members. We met each other through cars and County College of Morris and all started biking during the same season. We also are active members on www.mtbnj.com
“UtahJoe” Joe Petrarca who recently claimed 2nd place at the Wawayanda Spring Cleaning race in CAT2 and part of Team Marty’s. Utah’s current rides include a Gary Fisher Paragon 29er, Specialized 29er Stumpjumper FSR, a Norco downhill bike, his old raighie converted to single speed, and a road bike he never rides.
“Satanpez” Stephen Mirsky on his Canondale Rush. Steve also has a rebuilt old school steel bike for city use.
And myself, “gtluke” and my 2008 Specialized Epic which I have a love/hate relationship with. I love it because it’s versatile, I hate it because it breaks tri-anually. Marty’s is good about fixing it quickly and under warranty though (rear shock is the only issue, but it’s reaccuring. I’m on my 4th rear shock). I also have a 2007 Specialized Rockhopper
